  • Overview

    Capstone Corporation is currently seeking a System Operator to support the Naval Sea Command (NAVSEA), located at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.


    This position will be filled upon contract award.



    • Under direct supervision, modifies existing software and creates special-purpose software to ensure efficiency and integrity between systems and applications.
    • Creates and/or maintains operating systems, communications software, database packages, compilers, assemblers, and utility programs.
    • Monitors the operation of all systems and hardware.
    • Works closely with data entry operators to coordinate processing cycle.
    • Assists in providing security of data and ensure confidentiality of information services.
    • Maintains a detailed understanding of work process requirements and data supply for application systems.
    • Maintains knowledge of the applicable systems hardware and systems software configurations for all computer systems.
    • Monitors and ensures balanced and effective system operating environment and end-user activity.
    • Maintains systems backup as scheduled.
    • Maintains processing logs and documents and maintain all run and procedure manual.
    • Assists in distributing prepared material.
    • Works with programmers and system analyst to determine problems and solve them.
    • Maintains the data communications configurations and assist in resolution of end-user communication failures.
    • Ensures prompt report of unresolved hardware problems to supervisor.
    • Monitors the computer room and work station environment and maintain knowledge of requirements of all power backup, equipment and work place.
    • Performs duties assigned by supervisor to minimal satisfactory level and compliance with all guidelines and work ethics.


    Basic Qualifications


    Minimum education and years of experience:


    • Associate's degree
    • Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing programming support. .



    • Experience modifying and creating software.
    • Experience maintaining operating systems.




    • 8570 requirement of IAT Level I certification (e.g. Network+, A+, CCNA-Security, SSCP).




    • Top Secret clearance with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
