  • Overview

    Capstone Corporation is currently seeking a SQL Database Administrator to support the Naval Sea Command (NAVSEA), located at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.

     

    This position will be filled upon contract award.

    Responsibilities

    • Manages servers and application environments critical to business processing.
    • Works with application teams responsible for hosted apps, performs application and operating system updates as needed, and maintains server security and compliance as required by policy and standards.
    • Performs daily system monitoring, verifies the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.
    • Demonstrates working knowledge of MS SQL, ORACLE, FoxPro, and MYSQL databases.
    • Manages and maintains database backups, defines and controls database replication needs, and develops database triggers and stored procedures under the direction of Senior Programmers and Project Managers.
    • Develops, tests, and runs data conversion programs.

    Basic Qualifications

    Minimum education and years of experience:

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in an IT related discipline AND
    • Minimum (3) years of SQL administration experience; OR five (5) years of SQL administration experience if no degree.

     

    Qualifications:

     

    • Working knowledge of MS SQL, ORACLE, FoxPro, and MYSQL databases.
    • Experience managing servers, and application environments critical to business processing. This includes working with application teams responsible for hosted apps, performing application and OS updates as needed, and maintaining server security and compliance as required by policy and standards.
    • Experience performing daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.
    • Experience managing and maintaining database backups, defining and controlling database replication needs, and developing database triggers and stored procedures under the direction of Senior Programmers and Project Managers.
    • Experience developing, testing and running data conversion programs.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and positively with civilian, government/military personnel, and other contractors at all levels of staff and management to assure customer satisfaction.
    • Ability to move and maneuver up to 50 pounds of weight (computer hardware, accessories, support equipment, etc.).
    • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs

     

    Certification:

     

    • 8570 requirement of IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).

     

    Clearance:

     

    • Secret clearance with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
